Rob Bergevin

Rob Bergevin’s auction career started at the Calgary Stockyards in 1988 and he has been actively involved in the livestock marketing industry ever since. He graduated from the World Wide College of Auctioneering in1990. In 2005, Rob and Sharon partnered with Blair Vold to purchase the auction market at Stavely, AB. Foothills Auctioneers Inc. became a reality. At the time, Stavely Auction was selling 11,000 cattle per year. The Bergevin’s bought out their partners in 2014 and became sole owners of the market.

Rob became very active in the Alberta Auction Markets Association, serving on many committees, and was elected as President. In 2012, Rob and the crew at Foothills Auctioneers hosted the LMAC convention. This introduced Rob to the inner workings of the National association. When he was elected as President of the Alberta Auction Markets Association, he was appointed to the LMAC Board of Directors as the Alberta Representative. Rob welcomed the challenge of Cowboy Politics and served on many committees at the national level. His hard work and dedication to promoting the auction method of marketing cattle earned Rob the trust of the LMAC membership. In 2017, Rob was elected President of LMAC. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Rob served as President until 2021.

In 2019, Rob and Sharon brought in Perlich Bros. from Lethbridge as partners and they continue to manage the Foothills yard on behalf of the partnership. The market currently sells over 40,000 cattle.

Rob is a world-class auctioneer and has sold at a number of prestigious auctions such as the Way Out West Fest’s Western Art Auction, to the world-renowned Calgary Stampede Chuck Wagon canvas auction. He is always a contender at the LMAC and International Auctioneering Championships.

He has been a great mentor to many of the young auctioneers that come to the LMAC championships.

Rob has a passion for rodeo. He was a professional pick up man from 1988 -2007 and is still actively involved as a rodeo announcer. He is past-president the Canadian Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame.

Rob has also appeared a number of times on the CBC television series, Heartland, as an auctioneer and rodeo announcer.

Rob has been a great ambassador for LMAC and a strong promoter of True Price Discovery by Auction. He was by far one of the most active and engaged LMAC presidents in LMAC’s history. He served on many very important committees and traveled all over Canada spending countless hours representing the cattle-marketing sector. Rob’s leadership strengthened the working relationship between LMAC and their American counterpart, LMA. Rob represented LMAC and addressed the LMA convention in California in 2019.

This award is reserved for Champions; only three people have inducted in the past. Rob joins Steve Primrose, Danny Skeels, and Brian Good as a LMAC Industry Champion. LMAC congratulates Rob Bergevin on his many accomplishments in the livestock marketing industry.
