2007 Convention Round Up

Over 110 delegates, Market Operators, Auctioneers, Livestock Dealers and personnel gathered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 7-10, 2007, for the Livestock Markets Association of Canada’s Annual Convention and Auctioneer Championship. The event was hosted by Saskatchewan Livestock Markets and Order Buyers Association and the host was Saskatoon Livestock Sales Ltd.

Twenty-four Auctioneers competed for the coveted title of Canadian Livestock Auctioneer Champion and the honor of representing LMAC. Brad Stenberg from Kronau, Saskatchewan is the 2007 Canadian Auctioneer Champion.Brad was sponsored by Parkland Livestock Market Ltd., Leross Saskatchewan and will represent LMAC at the International Championship at the Calgary Stampede. Chance Martin is the Reserve Champion Auctioneer, from Ponoka, Alberta and sponsored by Vold, Jones and Vold. The Rookie of the Year was won by Jack Brennin from Rama, Saskatchewan.

  • Chris Poley from Waldheim, Saskatchewan; sponsored by Saskatoon Livestock Sales
  • Kevin McArter from Exeter, Ontario; sponsored by Brussels Livestock
  • Frederick Bodnarus from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; sponsored by Saskatoon Livestock Sales

Tom Vicars from B.C. Livestock Producers Co-Operative, Kamloops, B.C, was re-elected President of LMAC; Mike Fleury of Saskatoon Livestock Sales, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was re-elected First Vice-President; and Jim Abel from Stettler Auction Mart, Stettler, Alberta was elected 2nd Vice-President.

The 2008 LMAC Annual Convention and Auctioneer Championship will be held in Quebec City, Quebec.
