2008 Convention Round Up

The Livestock Auction Markets Association of Canada held it’s Annual Convention and Auctioneer Championship in Quebec City, Quebec, in June of 2008 , hosted by Reseau Encans Quebec, M. Edoardo Maciocia and M. Real Sage, Owners.

Over 200 registrants, comprised of Market Operators, Livestock Dealers, personnel, Auctioneers and guests stayed at the historic Fairmont The Chateau Frontenac, just a stone’s throw from Old Quebec City, where they were able to enjoy the shops and restaurants, before boarding buses and heading out to the Auctioneer Championship, hosted by St-Isadore Auction Market in St-Isadore, Quebec.

Twenty-two Auctioneers competed for the title of Canadian Livestock Auctioneer Champion and the honor of representing LMAC. Andy Carter from Amherst, Nova Scotia is the 2008 Canadian Auctioneer Champion. Andy was sponsored by Atlantic Stockyards Ltd., Truro, Nova Scotia and will represent LMAC at the International Championship in Calgary. Chance Martin, from Red Deer, Alberta, is the Reserve Champion. Chance was sponsored by Vold, Jones & Vold Auction Co. Ltd, Ponoka, Alberta. The title of Rookie of the Year went to Bobby Miller of Ponoka, Alberta, sponsored by Vold, Jones & Vold.

  • Darren Rebalkin, from Brooks, Alberta, sponsored by Bow Slope Shipping Association
  • Leo LeBlanc, from Edmonton, Alberta, sponsored by Direct Livestock Marketing Systems

Mike Fleury of Saskatoon Livestock Sales, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is the new President of LMAC. 1st Vice-President is Jim Abel, Stettler Auction Mart, Stetter, Alberta and Myles Mason, from St. Rose Auction Mart, St. Rose, Manitoba, is the new 2nd Vice-President.

The 2009 LMAC Annual Convention and Auctioneer Championship will be held in Brooks, Alberta, hosted by Bow Slope Shipping Association.
