2006 Convention Round Up

Over 100 delegates, Market Operators, Auctioneers, Livestock Dealers and industry personnel gathered in Kamloops, BC, on May 11-14 ,2006, for the Livestock Auction Markets Association of Canada’s Annual Convention and Auctioneer Championship. The event was hosted by Mountain Auction Market Association and the host Market was B.C. Livestock Producers Co-Operative.

Sixteen Auctioneers competed for the coveted title of Canadian Livestock Auctioneer Champion and the honor of representing LMAC. Dean Edge from Rimbey, Alberta is the 2006 Canadian Auctioneer Champion. Dean was sponsored by Vold,Jones and Vold Auction in Ponoka, Alberta and will represent LMAC at the International Championship at the Calgary Stampede. Chance Martin from Ponoka, Alberta, also sponsored by Vold,Jones and Vold , was the Reserve Champion Auctioneer. Rookie of the Year was won by Jon Radcliffe from Torrington, Alberta.

  • Cliff Pahl from Brooks, Alberta, sponsored by Bow Slope Shipping Association
  • Jon Radcliffe from Torrington, Alberta
  • Bruce Mortenson from Armstrong, British Columbia, sponsored by Valley Auctions
  • Shawn Gist from Red Deer, Alberta, sponsored by Burnt Lake Livestock Mart
  • Rob Bergevin from Stavely, Alberta, sponsored by Vold, Jones and Vold Foothills Livestock.

Tom Vicars from B.C. Livestock Producers Co-Operative, Kamloops, British Columbia, was elected President of LMAC; Mike Fleury of Saskatoon Livestock Sales, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was elected First Vice-President;and Jerry Hewson from Provost Livestock Exchange, Provost, Alberta, was elected 2nd Vice-President.

The 2007 LMAC Convention and Auctioneer Championship will be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and the host market will be Saskatoon Livestock Sales.
